We are always looking for feedback on the schedule. If you have comments/suggestions, please feel free to e-mail the Chief Owlbear at CampNerdly [AT] gmail.com.
What games are on the schedule?
Look for that announcement after registration closes.
Nerdly will have a mix of scheduled activities (based on Applications we recieve) and spur-of-the-moment stuff as always.
If you definitely want to see something on the schedule, offer it up! Or reach out through google groups, facebook, twitter, etc. and find someone willing to bring it.
Camp Nerdly X Game and Event Planning
All applicants 13 years or older get to propose an activity on their Application this year. Feel free to connect with potential campers through the google group, over at the facebook page, on twitter, or any method you like to gauge interest or request something you want to see.
We will stitch together a schedule of activities in the middle of April (about a month before camp). That schedule will be available on-line, and also at the camp for anyone to browse.
PREVIEW of (most) games to be scheduled - SUBJECT TO CHANGE!
But of course, there will be plenty of people bringing stuff, and ad-hoc activities as usual. That's what pitch sessions are for!
What are pitch sessions?
Before each gaming block, anyone who has a game or event they want to spontaneously run will gather in the Main Hall or somewhere nearby to give us a brief explanation of the game. This usually includes the premise, whether it's silly or serious, any age restrictions, the maximum amount of players, trigger warnings, and any other important information. Our Chief Owlbear will designate a Camp Nerdly Loudmouth to stand on a table or chair and get everyone's attention to let you all know that the pitch session is starting. Since not all GMs have loud voices, it's important that all campers quiet down to hear the pitch sessions. And hey -- you might hear about an exciting game that you didn't previously know about!
Sometimes people pitch games and don't get players. That's okay! Even expected. There are generally more pitches than we need, and it's an embarrassment of riches, as they say. Don't feel bad if no one swings at your pitch. Try again later, if you want, or just go play in the other games. Putting your game on the schedule will give people an opportunity to be excited for your activity before we get to camp.
How do scheduled games and pitch sessions work together?
We'll run through a reminder of the games and activities on the schedule first, and then "pitch" anything spur of the moment. The goal is to find something for everyone to do.
Operation Blind Drop!
Operation Blind Drop will take place during Saturday dinner.
How it works:
Bring a thing, get a thing. If you want to bring extra things and don't want a thing in exchange, we will give them to other people who want things!
What to bring:
Games, game books, other fun game-related items (minis, puzzles, etc, go hog wild). Anything cool you have lying around that you aren't using but you think someone else would enjoy!
What to do:
Since it's a blind drop, wrap your stuff! You should do this beforehand, or alternately scrounge supplies at camp? Put one word/phrase on your package to give a clue at what is inside--"sci-fi", "euro", "creepy", "Vikings", etc etc. Or write up a whole poem if you want, don't let me cramp your style. Just make it a hint, not a giveaway!
IF THE THING YOU BROUGHT IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR YOUNGER AUDIENCES MAKE SURE YOU MARK IT AS SUCH!!!
When is this happening:
Saturday evening post-dinner everyone who brought things should grab a thing. They can open it or give it to some cool person they met or a new camper!
